Getting Your Time Back!

I was thinking the other day about how I could free up some time to work on a little side hustle I want to start. Then I started thinking about how many times my clients have said to me that they wish there were more hours in the day to get everything done.

Everyone gets the same amount of time during the day. So I have a few suggestions that may help you get more time on your side.

1. Hire Someone to take care of tasks. Your business has a lot of day-to-day tasks that need to be done. Bookkeeping, calendar scheduling, answering emails, creating products, social media, newsletters, etc. Sit down and think of what you like to do and what you can delegate to someone else. Having a person take care of one of your day-to-day tasks can free up time during the day.

Hiring someone to clean your house, do grocery delivery, do batch cooking, or simply hiring out those handyman jobs around the house will help get your time back to do what you want to do.

2. Use Technology. Setup automated workflows in your business. You can use Zapier, email templates, Microsoft Power Automate, Google’s Kissflow, etc. The setup does take some time, but once it’s done, it will save you hours a week so you can focus on other important business tasks.

Automation at home is a little different but will still save you time. Record your favorite TV show to watch later, have your bills/savings auto-debit from your bank account, automate delivery and purchase of items, implement shortcuts on your phone, etc…

3. Manage Your Energy. Everyone has a time of day when they feel like their energy is high and when their energy is low. So what does this have to do with getting your time back? Well, when you have more energy, you can focus and get more done in a short time. When your energy is low (at least for me), it’s hard to get anything done, and time is wasted.

One solution may be that you take a break during the day when you are low on energy. Go for a short walk, take a power nap, or meditate and breathe. Taking a short break will up your energy level so you can focus better and use your time efficiently.

This article is only scratching the surface of getting time back, but I hope some of these suggestions have helped. What creative ways can you think of that would save you time so you can do the things you want to do?
